We are pleased to announce the winners as follows:

Champion: "Hugs for the Misfits too"

Lee Ka Yi (Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine)

Theme: SEN Support and Inclusive Campus

A child gives a warm hug to a monster, acknowledging that even monsters need love too. There are times we may see ourselves as misfits for various reasons: struggling to meet expectations, facing challenges in keeping up, or identifying as a student with special educational needs (SEN). In these moments, we might feel like monsters standing out in a crowd, isolated and misunderstood. Yet, just like this child embraces the monster, we all deserve love, understanding, and support. An inclusive campus fosters an environment where every individual is valued and celebrated for their uniqueness, reminding us that kindness and compassion can bridge any divide. I wanted to create an image of one protecting another from monsters, but the AI tool suggested this alternative perspective on protection. Instead of a typical hero confronting terrifying monsters, it invites us to consider the power of compassion and connection.

Law Annie (HKU Business School)

Theme: Cultural Diversity and Mutual Respect

The image vividly captures the essence of cultural diversity and mutual respect within a vibrant community. In a warmly lit space, there is a diverse group of individuals standing together, symbolising unity despite their varied backgrounds. Two figures in the photo create a heart shape with their hands, embodying love and connection that transcends age and ethnicity, further creating an atmosphere filled with joy. Surrounding them are faces of different races, genders, and ages, showcasing the richness of human experience. Each person wears an expression of joy, highlighting the importance of community and the strength found in diversity. Warm tones and expressive gestures are masterfully used to evoke feelings of togetherness and celebration. This artwork serves as a powerful reminder that cultural diversity is a source of strength, fostering mutual respect and understanding among all individuals. It encourages viewers to appreciate and embrace differences, cultivating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. Through this representation, the image not only reflects the theme of the competition but also inspires ongoing conversations about equality and the beauty of human connections within the campus community.

2nd Runner-up: "Unity in Diversity: A Cultural Feast"

Poon Sing Man (Faculty of Science)

Theme: Cultural Diversity and Mutual Respect

This illustration depicts a diverse group of young people sharing a meal together in a stained glass-inspired artistic style. The scene is split symmetrically by an ornate divider, creating a mirror-like composition. The group includes people from various cultural backgrounds, including someone wearing a hijab, and shows them engaged in animated conversation while sharing food. The artwork features rich, jewel-toned colors like deep purples, emeralds, and burgundies, with intricate decorative patterns reminiscent of Islamic geometric art and stained glass windows. The overall composition creates a warm, inclusive atmosphere that celebrates cultural diversity and communal dining.
